LocalCareGuide is committed to treating people with dignity, fairness and respect.
Modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation have no place in our organisation or in the organisations we choose to work with.
We are committed to acting responsibly, identifying potential risks and taking proportionate steps to help prevent modern slavery within our activities and supply chain.
2. About Us
LocalCareGuide helps families find trusted local care, support and community services.
We produce Local Care Guides and digital publications and work with care providers, businesses, charities, community organisations, professional services and other partners across the UK.
LocalCareGuide is part of Caringly Group, based in Scotland.
Our activities are primarily focused on publishing, digital services, partnerships, marketing and community engagement.
3. Our Supply Chain
Our supply chain may include organisations providing services such as:
- printing and distribution;
- technology and digital services;
- design and creative services;
- marketing and communications;
- professional and administrative services;
- venues and events;
- contractors and freelancers; and
- other goods and services supporting our publications and activities.
We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist within supply chains even where they are not immediately visible.
We therefore aim to work with reputable organisations that share our commitment to responsible and ethical business practices.
4. Our Standards
We expect the people and organisations we work with to:
- comply with applicable employment and modern slavery laws;
- treat workers fairly and with respect;
- provide safe and lawful working conditions;
- not use forced, compulsory or trafficked labour;
- not knowingly support or benefit from modern slavery or exploitation; and
- take reasonable steps to promote responsible practices within their own supply chains.
We take these expectations into account when selecting and reviewing suppliers, contractors and commercial partners.
5. Assessing Risk
We take a proportionate, risk-based approach.
The nature and level of modern slavery risk can vary depending on the sector, service, location and supply chain involved.
Where we identify an area of greater potential risk, we may carry out additional checks, request further information or reconsider whether it is appropriate to work with the organisation concerned.
Our approach will continue to develop as our organisation and supply chain grow.
6. Due Diligence
We aim to take reasonable and proportionate steps to understand the organisations we work with.
Depending on the nature of the relationship and the level of risk involved, this may include:
- reviewing publicly available information;
- considering an organisation’s reputation and business practices;
- requesting relevant assurances or information;
- including appropriate contractual requirements;
- raising concerns where necessary; and
- reviewing or ending relationships where serious concerns cannot be satisfactorily resolved.
We do not expect every supplier or partner to present the same level of risk and therefore apply our checks proportionately.
7. Raising Concerns
We encourage anyone working with or on behalf of LocalCareGuide to raise concerns about suspected modern slavery, human trafficking or exploitation.
Concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.
Where we identify credible evidence of unlawful activity, we may take appropriate action, including ending a relationship and reporting concerns to the relevant authorities where necessary.
8. Awareness & Training
As our organisation develops, we will continue to build awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant members of our team.
Where appropriate, guidance or training may be provided to people involved in procurement, partnerships, recruitment or other activities where modern slavery risks may arise.
Our approach will remain proportionate to the nature, size and risk profile of our organisation.
9. Measuring Our Progress
We recognise that responsible business practice requires ongoing attention.
We will continue to review how we identify and manage modern slavery risks as LocalCareGuide grows.
This may include monitoring:
- significant concerns raised;
- supplier or partner issues identified;
- due diligence undertaken in higher-risk areas;
- actions taken in response to concerns; and
- improvements made to our processes and guidance.
Our aim is continuous, proportionate improvement rather than simply meeting a minimum standard.
10. Working With Others
Our commitment extends beyond our immediate organisation.
We expect suppliers, contractors and partners to take modern slavery and responsible working practices seriously.
Where appropriate, we may seek assurances about their practices and expect concerns within their own operations or supply chains to be addressed responsibly.
We reserve the right to reconsider relationships with organisations whose conduct is inconsistent with these principles.
11. Our Ongoing Commitment
Preventing exploitation is an ongoing responsibility.
As LocalCareGuide expands, we will continue to review our supply chain, partnerships and working practices and strengthen our approach where appropriate.
We believe stronger communities should be built on fairness, dignity and respect for everyone.
12. About This Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the approach taken by LocalCareGuide and Caringly Group to help identify and address modern slavery risks within our activities and supply chain.
This statement has been prepared voluntarily in support of the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
